FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention concerns medicine, pharmaceutics, analytical chemistry, and can be applied in antioxidant effect (AOE) assessment for various medical extractions and drugs, foods, beverages and bioactive dietary supplements (BDS). Claimed method of total antioxidant effect definition for bioactive substances involves preparation of analysed and reference material samples, electrochemical oxidation of samples at carbon glass electrode in three-electrode electrochemical cell in ammonia buffer solutions, and voltampergram registration is performed in classical or differential mode with further use of registered wave (peak) height values in calculation of antioxidant effect by the formula.
EFFECT: possible efficient definition of total AOE for bioactive substances along with simplified method implementation due to the use of standard instrumentation.
