FIELD: physics, measurements.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method is intended for analysing bed loads of offshore areas of the World Ocean and can be used in underwater acoustics for exploration activity, as well as for analysing sound propagation in shallow seawaters. Note that is does not require cumbersome receiving-radiating systems and consists in acoustic profiling bed loads with the help of composite phase-manipulated signals modulated by M-succession. The latter allows a significant increase in sounding depth with high resolution. Note also that, due to absence of shadow area, it provides for high-quality profile records irrespective of the receiving-radiating system depth.
EFFECT: increased depth of profiling bed loads with increased resolution and elimination of reception deadband.
