FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method of determining colour groups in fibre layers involves determination of standard colour coordinates Xf, Yf, Zf and their mean-square deviation σXf, σYf, σZf, on a sample of the fibre on its length. Differences ΔI , are calculated, between values of standard colour coordinates of the fibre samples Xf, Yf, Zf and values of sample standard colour coordinates of the fibre Xs, Ys, Zs (ΔX=Xf-Xs; ΔY=Yf-Ys; ∆Z=Zf-Zs), as well as differences Δσi, between values of mean-square deviation of standard colour coordinates of the sample of fibre σXf, σYf, σXf , and mean-square deviation of sample standard colour coordinates of the fibre σXf, σYf, σZf ((ΔσX=σXf-σXs; ΔσY=σYf-σYs; ΔσZ =σZf-σZs). After that the sum of the calculated differences Σ(Δi+Δσi), for each standard colour group, is calculated. The colour group is determined from the condition of minimum value of Σ(Δi+Δσi).
EFFECT: increased accuracy and objectiveness of determining colour group of fibre layers in flax stock.
