FIELD: agriculture.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to agroindustrial processing of natural fibres and textile industry, in particular linen. In the disclosed method, digital images of the analysed fibre and fibre standards are used to generate pixel distribution over at least 32 intensity classes for each of the three colour components in the RGB system. Then number of pixels is graded by classes, taking total number of pixels in each image as 100 %. Difference between the normalized values of the number of pixels in the images of the analysed fibre and standards, as well as the sum of these differences for all components of the colour are calculated for the corresponding classes. Then colour group of sample is determined as group of reference colour, in which with analysed sample of fibre there will be minimum value of calculated sum of differences.
EFFECT: technical result is higher accuracy of determining colour group of fibre.
