SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of qualimetry of flax raw materials and concerns a method for determining the separability of fiber in the stems of flax straw stems. The method includes preparation of a sample of stems, analysis of surface color parameters and measurement of the diameter of stems in different sections of their length. The separability index is calculated as an arithmetic mean of three separability values, each of which is calculated depending on the diameter of the stems and the three chromaticity coordinates in the RGB system for each section along the length of the stems.
EFFECT: increase in the accuracy of analysis.
