FIELD: physics; measurement.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to measurement of the length of materials with a net structure, for example linen, and can be used in textile and clothing manufacture. The linear dimension of the weave unit of material in undeformed state is pre-determined from the number of repeats on a standard section of the length. The surface of the moving material is scanned using the detecting element of a piezoelectric transducer. The length of the moving material is calculated using a microprocessor from the number of pulses generated by the piezoelectric transducer, which correspond to the number of weave units on the measured length and the pre-determined linear dimension of the weave unit.
EFFECT: more accurate measurement with simplification of the equipment.
