FIELD: physics; image processing.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to methods of reducing visual distortions in the frame of a digital video signal. The method of reducing visual distortions, resulting from borders of units between decoded image units in a frame of a digital video signal, involves adapting filtration of borders of units at the border of units formed between the first decoded image unit on the first side of the border of units and the second decoded image unit on the second side of the border of units. The first decoded image unit is encoded using the first type of encoding method and the second decoded image unit is encoded using the second type of encoding method. The value of at least one parametre of the operation of adapting filtration of the borders of units, done at the border of units, is determined through analysing types of methods from the first and second encoding methods.
EFFECT: reduction of blocking distortions.
