FIELD: video data processing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods and apparatus for video data processing. The technical result is achieved by performing the following stages of the method: decoding a first syntax element from the bitstream of the encoded video, wherein the first syntax element indicates whether the first component of the bitstream is encoded based on a second component, wherein the first syntax element includes the colour format index chroma_format_idc indicating the format of chromaticity subcounts; determining whether one or more chromaticity-related second syntax elements should be decoded based on the first syntax element, wherein the chromaticity-related encoding tool is either the "brightness display with chromaticity scaling" encoding tool or a cross-component adaptive contour filter; and decoding the chromaticity-related second syntax elements based on the first syntax element indicating that the first component is encoded based on the second component in the bitstream of the encoded video, and the first component constitutes a chromaticity component.
EFFECT: lower distortion of video data during decoding.
