METHOD OF CHOICE OF THERAPEUTIC TACTICS OF PATHOLOGICAL GAMBLING INCLINATION Russian patent published in 2009 - IPC A61M21/00

SUBSTANCE: complex clinical therapy of pathological gambling involves diagnosing the disturbance symptoms including obsessive inclination, compulsive inclination, symptom of mental comfort/discomfort, symptom of physical comfort/discomfort, change of psychotropic gambling effect, change of realisation forms of pathological inclination, tolerance growth, disappearance of protective marks, emphasizing, person deformation and impoverishment, hypothymia, antivital ideas, altered state of consciousness in gambling. Their intensity is estimated by 4-score scale, where 1 is minimal intensity of the symptom detected in active inquiry only, 2 is insignificant intensity of the symptom independently described by the patient and moderately influencing his behaviour, 3 - considerable intensity of the symptom described by the patient and his surroundings, considerably influencing his behaviour, 4 is maximal intensity of the symptom determining his behaviour and vital activity. It is followed with calculating the progression factor evaluated as ratio of total scored symptoms to disturbance duration in years. If said factor does not exceed 5, the complex aid combining psychopharmacotherapy and psychotherapy is ambulatory, while the factor exceeding 5 required therapy in hospital environment.

EFFECT: method allows for individualised complex therapy of dependence, higher clinical effectiveness of therapeutic and preventive actions, prevented recurrent pathological gambling, and considerably lowered risk of criminogenicity and victimity.
