FIELD: forestry.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to processing photographic images and can be implemented in forestry for operative evaluation of stratum properties of planting on unrecorded territories. There is processed an image presented with matrix of digital counts of brightness function from space coordinates. Also matrix is successively from the beginning of the woodland is divided to windows with dimension |3×3| of adjacent elements. Final differences are calculated in each window on coordinates x, y, local maximums of image matrix are found, and their number is calculated. According to a special program medium distance between local maximums is calculated and is identified with medium distance between trees. Number of trees is found. Number of trees in planting is calculated. To obtain an image there is used a digital camera facilitating photographs with space resolution of 0.58 m/pixel in the range of change of signal brightness from 15 to 132 of standard scale of quantisation from 0…255 levels.
EFFECT: upgraded accuracy of evaluation.
