FIELD: agriculture.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to forestry and may be used to calculate taxation characteristics. According to the method, ground measurements of tree crowns spectral characteristics are carried out. Wavelengths are produced for every wood type with maximum of spectral characteristics in the green strip of spectrum and minimum at the border of the red and near infrared range. Using a digital camera of high space resolution installed on an aerospace carrier, forest area images are produced in the visible range. Simultaneously forest areas are shot with a hyperspectrometre in ranges that correspond to minimum and maximum of spectral characteristics for every type of wood. The area plantation stock is calculated, and synthesised matrices of images are formed on each type by calculation of pixel-by-pixel ratios of spectral channels. Mathematical expectation is calculated for signals of synthesised matrices, and share of each type is determined in the total stock.
EFFECT: improved reliability and accuracy of calculation characteristics.
