METHOD OF FILLING AND HYDROGEN FILLING STATION Russian patent published in 2009 - IPC F17C5/00

Abstract RU 2361144 C2

FIELD: heating, fuels.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to appliances that serve to feed hydrogen into automotive fuel feed systems. The proposed method consists in forced feed of hydrogen into car fuel tank till hydrogen temperature decrease and complete tanking. The tank is pumped-out by communicating the tank chambers, via cutoff gates, to roughing-down pump, actuating IR- and SHF-radiators arranged in charging chambers, feeding compressed hydrogen into charging chambers for hydrogen pressure to smoothly increase inside charging chambers. The temperature inside chambers reached 250°C, IR-radiators are cut off to keep hydrogen temperature inside said charging chambers at the level of 300°C by cutting off/on the SHF-radiators in compliance with the chamber temperature pickup readings. The hydrogen feed is cut off when pressure reaches the magnitude preset for given type of cartridges, and SHF-radiators are turned out on reaching hydrogen maximum. Hot hydrogen remnants are evacuated from charging chambers to feed them back into low-pressure receiver, and hydrogen is forced, at maximum pressure, into the chambers. With temperature inside charging chambers making some 60° to 80°C, IR-radiators are turned on to bring cartridge hydrogen pressure to specified designed level. The proposed filling station comprises the housing, gas heater incorporating temperature controller, pump, cylinder filling column, instrumentation, set of pressurised charging chambers, low-pressure hydrogen source, compressors, hydrogen pressure controlled reducers, roughing-down pump with intake vessel, system of pipelines with cutoff gates and pressure pickups and programmed controller.

EFFECT: increased content of hydrogen in accumulators, reduced power consumption in cartridge charging, minimised hydrogen losses in charging.
