FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to devices designed for liquid treatment by ultrasonic vibration and can be used in chemical, food, pharmaceutical and fragrance industry and power industry. Reactor contains ultrasonic radiator and reflector. When reactor is operated volume occupied by plane elastic wave in liquid is formed between their surfaces. Volume of reactor is set depending on the following conditions: ratio of mean distance from all point of this volume up to its geometric centre towards ultrasonic wavelength in treated liquid should be equal to the number with fraction not exceeding three fifths. At any required processing rate construction of reactor provides maximum influence of cavitation on liquid treated in the centre of volume occupied in it by plane elastic wave that leads to cavitation occurrence at any form of its leading edge, notwithstanding oscillation frequency and its propagation velocity in liquid.
