FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related to mechanical testing of different materials. During testing a sample in the form of flat plate is set in testing machine grips by means of Z-shaped lever. One end of the plate is fixed rigidly through lever with upper grip of testing machine, the other end - with lower grip. Sample loading is made by lateral forces by means of lower grip movement in relation to upper grip creating plane stress condition for sample. Depending on grip movement upward or downward continuous positive or negative pulse cycle is created.
EFFECT: enhancement of testing equipment functionality due to implementation of different schemes for crack propagation.
