FIELD: test equipment.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a sample for assessing the strength of a material, which is a part of a circular disc formed by its truncation by two planes, symmetrical about its geometric center and perpendicular to its middle surface, having a bearing surface, a loading surface, note here that said specimen comprises grooves in the form of edge cuts with U- or V-cross-section arranged on both bearing and loading surfaces while guide lines of said grooves lie in mutually perpendicular planes.
EFFECT: invention provides creation of stress-strain state in working zone, in which tensile stresses occur at the bottom of the lower groove in its cross section, and the stresses at the bottom of the upper groove in its cross section are compressive.
