FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention is related to the field of welding or pad welding and may be used as method of multiarc electric welding or pad welding in protective gases and especially efficiently for thin-sheet structures of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Process of welding or pad welding is carried out by combination of melting and non-melting electrodes from source of AC current. At first source is selected for non-melting electrode, having external steep-grade characteristic with high idle run voltage, then - for melting electrode, having gently sloping (hard) characteristic with low idle run voltage. They are electrically connected so that voltage phase at melting electrode lags behind voltage phase at non-melting electrode. Voltage is supplied to electrodes for excitation of arcs, during interaction of which in common melting space on melting electrode pulses are generated as pulses of reverse polarity current with frequency equal to half of grid frequency, which melt the electrode metal and shape the welded seam.

EFFECT: provides for process automation, high quality of welded joints and welded metal, high labour efficiency, since process of welding, pad welding is carried out in single stage, and also reduction of material costs, since there is no necessity to purchase costly equipment.
