FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of application of wear-resistant coatings on cutting tool and can be used in metal-working manufacturing. Method includes vacuum-plasma application of multilayer coating. It is applied bottom layer from nitride or carbonitride of compound titanium, aluminium and iron at its ratio, wt % - titanium 83.7-85.2, aluminium 13.0-14.2, iron 1.8-2.1. It is applied intermediate - from nitride or carbonitride of compound titanium, aluminium, chrome and iron at its ratio, wt % - titanium 81.4-83.3, aluminium 8.7-9.6, chrome 6.8-7.6, iron 1.2-1.4 and top - from nitride or carbonitride of compound titanium, aluminium and chrome at its ratio, wt % - titanium 74.1-76.8, aluminium 13.0-14.5, chrome 10.2-11.4. There are used three cathodes located horizontally in the same plane. The first of which is implemented as compound from titanium and iron, the second - compound from titanium and chrome and is located oppositely the first, and the third - composite from titanium and aluminium and located between them.
EFFECT: workability increasing of cutting tool.
