FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of application of wear-resistant coatings on cutting tool and can be used in metal-working manufacturing. Method includes vacuum-plasma application of multilayer coating. It is applied bottom layer from nitride or carbonitride of compound titanium, molybdenum and iron at its ratio, wt % - titanium 91.0-91.6, molybdenum 7.0-7.3, iron 1.4-1.7; intermediate - from nitride or carbonitride of compound titanium, molybdenum, silicon and iron at its ratio, wt % - titanium 93.4-93.7, molybdenum 4.7-4.9, silicon 0.7-0.8, iron 0.9-1.1 and top - from nitride or carbonitride of compound titanium, molybdenum and silicon at its ratio, wt % - titanium 91.5-91.9, molybdenum 7.1-7.3, silicon 1.0-1.2. There are used three cathodes located horizontally in the same plane, the first of which is implemented as compound from titanium and iron, the second - alloy of titanium and silicon and places oppositely the first, and the third - from titanium and molybdenum and located between them.
EFFECT: workability increasing of cutting tool.
