FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of application of wear-resistant coatings on cutting tool and can be used in metal-working manufacturing. Method includes vacuum-plasma application of multilayer coating. It is applied bottom layer from nitride or carbonitride of compound titanium, silicon and iron at its ratio, wt % - titanium 96.8-97.4, silicon 0.8-1.0, iron 1.8-2.2; intermediate - from nitride or carbonitride of compound titanium, silicon, molybdenum and iron at its ratio, wt % - titanium 93.0-93.7, silicon 0.5-0.7, molybdenum 4.6-4.8, iron 1.2-1.5 and top - from nitride or carbonitride of compound titanium, silicon and molybdenum at its ratio, wt % - titanium 91.8-92.3, silicon 0.8-1.0, molybdenum 6.9-7.2. There are used horizontally located in the same plane three cathodes, the first of which is implemented as compound from titanium and iron, the second - from titanium and molybdenum and placed oppositely the first, and the third - from alloy of titanium and silicon and located between them.
EFFECT: workability increasing of cutting tool.
