FIELD: agriculture.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to agricultural engineering, more specifically to methods of investigating friction coefficient of materials. The technical outcome is achieved by moving a sample on the investigated surface, using a load suspended on a thread through a block, and recording the time for movement of the sample on a metre long section. The investigated surface lies at an angle to the horizontal and the block is fitted in its top part. The friction coefficient is determined from the formula where M is the mass of the load, kg; m is the mass of the sample, kg; S is the distance moved by the sample, m (S=1 m); t is the time the taken by the sample to move on S, s; g is acceleration of gravity, m/s2, α is the angle of the investigated surface to the horizontal, degrees. Mass of the load relative mass of the sample is determined from the condition
EFFECT: more accurate determination of coefficient of friction without increasing the length of investigated surface.
