FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method of determining frictional force and coefficient of friction involves joining one end of an element of a coiled article with a thread having a load spanned through a block. The ends of the rest of the elements of the coiled article are fixed on the side of the thread. The second end of the analysed element together with the suspended load is stretched from the coiled article. The value of applied force is measured. Frictional force Ffr between the elements is determined from the value of the applied force Q2, taking into account the load Q1, using the formula: Ffr=Q2-Q1. The coefficient of friction f is determined from the lay pitch H, the length of the analysed element l, the value of the applied force Q2 and the weight of the load Q1 using the formula: .
EFFECT: high accuracy of analysing coiled articles due to measurement of parametres of friction between elements inside said articles.
