FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: when treating exophytic cancer of the rectum with size of 2.5-3.0 cm, located 5-6 cm from the anorectal line, the rectum is mobilised. Mesorectumetomy is done. After mobilisation the mucus membrane of the rectum is transected above the sphincter 2-3 cm above the anorectal line. The proximal section of the transected intestines is brought down together with the tumour through the anal sphincter. The brought down intestines are transected above the tumour at the level of the top ampullar section. The brought down intestines are sewn around to the mucus membrane of the anal canal.
EFFECT: retention of function of sphincter mechanism of the rectum.
