FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: Invention can be used in chemical and electronic industries. The niobium suboxide with formula NbOx, whereat 0.7 < x < 1.3, more preferably 0.9 < x < 1.15, especially preferably 1 < x < 1.05, with fluidity according to ASTM B 213 no more than 60 s/25 g can be used for production of capacitors with solid electrolyte. The niobium suboxide is prepared in interreaction of NbOy , wherein 1.8 < y < 2.1, more preferably. 1.9 < y < 2, with stoichiometric amount of metallic niobium in presence of hydrogen at temperature 900 - 1600 °C during 0,5-4 hrs.
EFFECT: claimed method provides obtaining of niobium suboxide powders with improved fluidity.
