SUBSTANCE: invention relates to output media for printing digital data. The result is achieved due to that, a digital still camera (DSC) and a direct photographic printer (DPP) are directly connected to each other through a common interface. Image data are transferred from the printer to the digital still camera and then printed. The connection procedure is established by program applications, installed in the printer and digital still camera. Each of the set of functions, serving as the printing system, is assigned by either by the digital still camera or the printer. Data and commands are transferred between functions, assigned by the digital still camera and the printer, and the printer prints, based on image data from the digital still camera.

EFFECT: definition of standard communication protocol between image input device and printing device for printing independent of the model and manufacturer.
