FIELD: communication facilities.
SUBSTANCE: invention concerns methods of video call setup in mobile videophone network. Claimed methods of call setup reduce delays in call setup due to anticipating repeated packet transfer (NSRP) till expiration of typical waiting time period required for reception of NSRP acknowledgement packet (ACK) from remote terminal. Retransmitted NSRP packets can be sent again in free periods when modem level of transmitting mobile terminal does not receive other data for transfer to remote mobile terminal, thus taking advantage of vacant pass band. Multiplexed data received by modem can be stored in local buffer at modem level for retransmission. Thus, retransmission does not require generation of original call setup messages or multiplexing. Previously generated and multiplexed data are instead store in buffer at modem level for retransmission.
EFFECT: reduced overhead cost of processing at mobile terminal.
