FIELD: medicine; neurosurgery.
SUBSTANCE: retrosigmoid suboccipital approach is performed. The patient's head is turned to operation-opposed side at 30° and rigidly fixed. In approaching, bone over transverse sinus is resected to uncover the latter completely. Thereafter pachymeninx is open to remove tumour.
EFFECT: extended range of surgical mediums to treat infratentorial meningiomas of lateral cerebellar tentorium and transverse to sigmoid sinus transition.
