FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering and can be used for producing alkaline battery nickel-oxide electrode component, i.e. nickel monoxide hydrate (NMH), particularly to the method of extracting nickel from dead alkaline battery sections powder. Proposed method comprises leaching the said sections by sulfuric acid solution to produce nickel sulphate solution. Prior to leaching, sections powder is subjected to thermal treatment for its dispersion and converting nickel monoxide hydrate into nickel monoxide. Note that leaching is carried out with metered feed of powder into sulfuric acid hot solution in column-type reactor at mechanical mixing and bubbling of reaction mix. Note also that powder is dispersed above solution surface.
EFFECT: increased degree of leaching.
