FIELD: electrical engineering; manufacture of components of electrode active masses for alkaline batteries. SUBSTANCE: method consists in production of main components of active masses of iron and nickel electrodes - ferrous hydroxide, iron powder and graphite from new raw material - ferrous hydroxide - powder of lamellar ground electrodes of waste batteries at dispersity not exceeding 2.5 mm. Subject to processing are alkaline Fe-Ni batteries with lamellar electrodes. First, graphite is separated from mixture of ground positive lamellar electrodes at size of particles not exceeding 2.5 mm, after which mixture is leached in acid medium to content of ions Ni+2 in solution 60- 100 g/l and solution is cleaned from iron, magnesium and calcium admixtures; then it is subjected to hydrometallurgical processing to obtain ferrous hydroxide. Mixture of negative lamellar iron electrodes at size of particles of 1.5 to 2.5 mm is finished product for obtaining active iron mass.
