FIELD: physics; image processing.
SUBSTANCE: invention concerns digital image processing and can be used in the devices for automatic verification or identification of the person with usage of fingerprints. For this purpose the digital map of a fingerprint is obtained, normalised, smoothed for elimination of noise and the histogram of the digital map of a print is aligned. And simultaneously with histogram alignment area selection of a papillary pattern of a print with the subsequent construction of the field of directions for the selected area is performed. After that the frequency and routed filtering of the digital map of a print is fulfiled, then threshold sharing of pixels of the digital map of a print on three non-intersected groups is carried out, skeletonisation of the selected area of a papillary pattern of a print is performed with usage of a wave method. And also, selection of characteristic details by tracing of a skeleton of the selected area of a papillary pattern of a print and creation of the template is spent, describing characteristic details (minutias).
EFFECT: reduction of number of falsely selected characteristic subpictures for more faithful view (template) of a print.
