FIELD: technological processes, metal working.

SUBSTANCE: invention is related to the field of machine building and may be used in finishing operations for manufacturing of compression piston rings of internal combustion engines, in particular, in process of their lapping. Packet of piston rings is put on holder. Sleeve with diamond layer is inserted to form zone of piston rings packet contact with diamond layer of sleeve. Rotary and axial reciprocal motions are imparted to holder. Pressurised lubricating cooling liquid is supplied into zone of piston rings packet contact with diamond layer of sleeve via through openings arranged along the whole surface of sleeve. Supply is realised by means of plunger, to which reciprocal motion is imparted, synchronous with according motion of holder with packet of piston rings, from common drive of lathe spindle carrier.

EFFECT: higher quality of processing and sleeve service life due to intense and even removal of processing wastes from contact zone.
