FIELD: cutting of hard-to-work metals, possibly honing cylindrical openings. SUBSTANCE: method comprises rotary and reciprocation movements of honing head having abrasive blocks in the form of honing rings. Additional oscillation motion of honing head is applied upon reciprocation motion of it. Oscillation motion is realized by means of hydraulic shock created with the aid of concentrator arranged on rod and spring-loaded to housing of hydraulic striker. Concentrator injects working liquid under impulse pressure to hydraulic drive of reciprocation motion. Vibration combined with rotation and reciprocation motion of honing head provides crossing motion of abrasive grains for periodically changing cutting effort and friction force. EFFECT: significantly, by several times, enhanced efficiency of honing at the same high quality of honed surface. 3 dwg, 1 ex
