FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology.
SUBSTANCE: INVENTION RELATES TO PREPARING AROMATIC COMPOUNDS. Method involves carrying out the isomerization process of non-equilibrium mixture of ethylbenzene and xylenes on catalyst in the presence of hydrogen at temperature 300-600 C, under pressure 100 kPa - 5 MPa and hourly average rate at value of raw feeding 0.5-100 h-1. Catalysts comprises zeolite alumosilicate with pores diameter from 5 to 8 Е, a component represented by metal of platinum group and aluminum phosphate, or silicon dioxide as a binding agent. Ready catalyst has water-absorbing capacity less 7 wt.-% at 4.6 mm of mercury column. Invention provides elevating the concentration of desirable xylene isomer.
EFFECT: improved and enhanced selectivity of process.
