FIELD: mechanical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to hydraulic structures, specifically to open uncontrolled spillway of low and medium head waterworks facilities operating in severe ice conditions. The spillway contains crest weir, side walls and conjugation structure made of concrete and metal ice-guarding long-length elements which are located from bottom side from back of weir at intervals from each other, each in new transverse plane of crest weir, attached to crest weir and project over its overflow surface. Amount of ice-guarding element projection crest elevation over weir crest α provides holding ice of design thickness bdes before crest weir until water level before crest weir rises by target value of its elevation over weir crest hspec. In this case following inequations are fulfilled: hspec.<α+bdes.<hmax., where hmax. is value of design maximum elevation of water level before crest weir over its crest.
EFFECT: invention allows for lowering ice force, increasing water flow during ice passing through crest weir, raising intensity of ice fragmentation over weir crest, reducing metal consumption of ice-guarding elements and lowering the intensity of ice jamming in afterway of waterworks facility.
