FIELD: construction.
SUBSTANCE: in the method at first the maximum safe water level is reduced in contrast to such previously established level. The upper arc belt and host rocks in areas of adjacency of the upper arc belt are exposed to heat. The arc belt is exposed to heat by means of its heating of its cavities and by means of a heat protective structure, which is arranged at least at the side of the lower face of the arc belt. Host rocks are exposed to heat by means of thermal wells arranged in rocks. Exposure to heat is carried out with intensity that provides for reduced stretching stresses in the concrete near the upper (discharge) face of the dam. The heat protective structure is arranged in the form of a barrier structure that forms a heated cavity near the bottom face of the arc belt, or in the form of a heat protective coating comprising a layer of a heat insulating material and/or a layer of an insulating paint.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to increase reliability of the dam and to reduce operational expenses.
