FIELD: mechanical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to machine tool industry, specifically to balancing stands for contactless measuring diametre and "offset" of vehicle wheel disc. The method consists in contactless measurement of diametre and offset of wheel disc by means of transformation of electronic images obtained from optical receiver installed on stand frame. Image pictures are projections of cross-sections of wheel disc being measured which cross-sections are reflected from wheel disc rim butt and hub butt using at least one laser emitter also installed on stand frame. In this process laser emitter beam is transformed into vertical straight-line narrow light stripe. The device contains at least one laser emitter fixed immovably on the stand frame, optical receiver and computing device connected to receiver. Laser emitter beam transformed into straight-line narrow light stripe is directed to wheel disc rim butt and hub butt. Laser beam reflected from wheel disc rim butt and hub butt enters optical receiver designed for its receiving and digitising and transmitting to computing device intended for computing (calculating) actual measured diametre and offset of wheel disc.
EFFECT: providing possibility of contactless measurement of shape and dimensions of wheel disc in statics and dynamics.
