FIELD: automotive industry; automobile service centers. SUBSTANCE: proposed invention can be used for complex revealing of wheel unbalance. Balancing of wheels comes to compensation for unbalance by means of pressure drum (roadway simulator). Drum is pressed to wheel running surface at preset force and definite angle of turn of drum rotation axis relative to wheel rotation axis. Components of forces acting onto drum and reaction forces in two supports of shafts, on which wheel under balancing is mounted, are measured. Wheel balancer has drive shaft for mounting the wheel to be balanced, transducers, control and computing devices. Wheel balancer has pressure drum pressed to wheel running surface. Drum is hinge-mounted on horizontal axle parallel to wheel rotation axis. Drum horizontal axle is secured on fork of forked shaft. The latter is secured in mechanism providing turning of shaft around shaft axis through definite angle. Turning mechanism is coupled with housing and with drum longitudinal displacement drive rod. Drum longitudinal displacement drive is secured on bracket which is fixed on device housing. Strain-gauge transducer unit secured on forked shaft is connected with computing device.
