SUBSTANCE: invention relates to digital calculations and, more specifically, to service location in computer devices and networks. An application program generates a query for service location, service publication and subscription to the service location application programming interface. The service location application programming interface initiates one or more low-level protocols for running location, publication and/or subscription query. Service information, received from the low-level protocols, is formatted in a compatible data model and returned to the client application. In addition, service information can be stored in a presence data bank, managed by presence location service, connected to location service API with possibility of data exchange.

EFFECT: provision for compatible, high-level abstract of services and related operations, which is aimed at location and publication of service details in a wide spectrum of low-level API, protocols, storages and types of network neighbourhood.
