FIELD: construction.

SUBSTANCE: fused forsterite-containing material includes, wt %: forsterite 83-95, periclase 2-10, alumino-magnesium spinel 2-4, glass phase of monticellite composition 1-3, and is obtained by fusion of caustic magnesite and quartzite mix charge at the ratio of 57-60 to 40-43 wt %. Preferably caustic magnesite should include at least 87 wt % of MgO, and quartzite should include at least 97 wt % of SiO2. Charge fusion is performed under artificial caustic magnesite layer with electrodes submerged in the melt.

EFFECT: obtainment of fused forsterite-containing material resistant to CO exposure, with enhanced fire-proof properties, higher softening point and reduced heat conductivity.
