FIELD: instrument making.

SUBSTANCE: invention is related to measurement equipment and may be used to measure wear of smooth or rifled barrels. Measurement cylinder 2 with available geometric dimensions is installed in required section of barrel channel 1, excessive pressure of metering liquid or gas is created in barrel breech, and flow of medium that bleeds from annular gap from barrel chase, is measured. Device for method realisation based on hydrodynamic measurements comprises measurement cylinder 2 with setting rod 3, sealing flange 4 for oil supply to barrel breech, plugs for ejector openings 12, reduction gear 9 for control of pressure and manometre 10 for its measurement, oil pump 15, oil reservoir 14, outlet chase flange 5 with openings for oil exhaust and fixator 11 of setting rod 3, measuring vessel 16 and stopwatch 17 for measurement of measuring vessel filling time. In version of device based on aerodynamic measurements there is compressor or balloon with compressed air and rotametre for measurement of air flow rate.

EFFECT: higher accuracy of measurements, increased durability of measurement equipment with reduction of its cost.
