SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the field of providing combat training of artillery weapons and is aimed at creating an effective method of measuring and assessing the value of wear and the state of structural elements of the barrel of an artillery weapon and a device for its implementation. Disclosed is a method for determining the actual state of the barrel of artillery pieces by measuring its parameters and inspecting the barrel channel using a specially designed device, which provides measurement of the elongation of the charging chamber, diameter of the cylindrical part of the barrel bore, including along the fields and rifling, the width of fields and rifling, the shape of the rifling fields, as well as visual inspection of the state of the barrel when using the device from the muzzle of the gun in order to obtain a set of initial data required for solving the task of ballistic preparation of the artillery system and automated determination of the barrel category.

EFFECT: versatility of the device when measuring diameters from 100 to 159 mm with high accuracy.
