FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electronically steerable phased antenna arrays (PAA), particularly to beam control systems and directional pattern (DP) formation systems. According to the method, the required phase shift φij of a phased antenna array element is calculated by adding components of angular phase deviation φxi, φyj to coordinates of element ij in the aperture of the phased antenna array and individual phase support Fij. The method is distinguished by that, it contains additional components of angular phase deviation calculated for coordinates of the geometrical centre of the aperture of the phased antenna array I(GC), J(GC) with opposite signs to values φxi, φyj respectively, such that, the phase distribution centre of the directional pattern always coincides with the geometrical centre of the aperture of the phased antenna array. The origin of coordinates for calculating required phase shifts φij of phased antenna array elements are selected at the initial section of the aperture of the phased antenna array, for example, at the intersection of the zero row J0 and zero column I0 of the coordinate grid of elements in the aperture.
EFFECT: increased resolution of phased antenna array beam scanning with formation of its directional pattern relative the geometrical centre of the aperture of the phased antenna array.
