FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to applied physics, particularly to linear induction charged particle accelerators and can be used for generating neutrons. The iron-free linear induction deuteron accelerator - neutron generator has an electron beam acceleration unit (EBAU) made from accelerating cells (AS) with a toroidal housing (TH), iron-free toroidal magnetic circuit (IFTMC), solenoids for electron beam magnetic focusing (SEBMF), pulse voltage source, electron gun and an electron beam target (EBT). The electron beam acceleration unit is fitted with a stress concentrator (SC) - metal pipe. One end of the pipe is fixed with provision for electrical contact on the common end wall (CEW) of the outermost accelerating cell of the electron beam acceleration unit. The cathode of the electron gun is attached to the second end, while the anode lies opposite, coaxially with the cathode with "ОЭК" on the common end wall of the second outermost accelerating cell of the electron beam accelerating unit and has a central passage opening. This opening joins the electron beam acceleration unit with an additional unit for deuteron beam acceleration and recovering electron beam energy. There are solenoids for electron beam magnetic focusing inside the stress concentrator of the unit for deuteron beam acceleration and recovering electron beam energy (UDBAREB). A ring source of the hollow deuteron beam is attached to the end of stress concentrator of the unit for deuteron beam acceleration and recovering electron beam energy. An annular neutron-generating target is attached to the common end wall of the outermost acceleration cell of the unit for deuteron beam acceleration and recovering electron beam energy with a deuteron source.
EFFECT: invention reduces Coulomb repulsion of the deuteron beam, reduces distortion of the accelerating field in the gap, thereby enabling acceleration of ion beams with large intensity.
