METHOD OF DETERMINING ENTERIC INSUFFICIENCY IN CASE OF ACUTE INTESTINAL OBSTRUCTION Russian patent published in 2009 - IPC A61B8/08

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to field of medicine, in particular to surgery, namely to diagnostics of surgical diseases by means of ultrasonic examination. Stages of acute intestinal obstruction are determined, intestine wall thickness, its diametre and peristaltic movement frequency are determined. Enteric morphofunctional coefficient (EMFC) is calculated by formula: EMFC= Tw(int)×D(int)/FPM per 1 minute, where: Tw(int) - thickness of intestine wall (mm); D(int) - intestine diametre (mm); FPM - frequency of peristaltic movement per 1 minute. If EMFC value is less than 5 stage of compensation is determined and conservative treatment is carried out, if EMFC value is from 5 to 25 - stage of subcompensation and conservative treatment in dynamics with repeated determination of coefficient is carried out, if coefficient reaches up to 5 and lower conservative treatment is continued, if EMFC value is higher than 25 stage of decompensation is determined and urgent surgery is carried out.

EFFECT: method allows to determine enteric insufficiency at different stages of acute intestinal obstruction and further tactics for benefit of continuance of conservative treatment or urgent surgery, claimed method being simple and reliable in application, does not require modern equipment, can be used at any urgent surgery clinic.
