FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: device comprises a movable beam, lying horizontally and mounted on a resilient suspension. A test electrojet engine is mounted on a movable mount assembly at one end of the said beam and a balance weight is placed on the other end. The device also has an optical reading device, which is in form of a directional light source and a beam position indicator. The resilient suspension is linked to the beam through an arm, in which there is a narrow vertical slit which coincides with the axis of the resilient suspension. The mount assembly is also fitted with a mirror which reflects the light beam from the light source, and the plane of the mirror is parallel to the plane of the mount assembly at the point where it is joined to the beam. A vertical pointer is put on the mirror in the same plane with the axis of the mount assembly at the point where it is joined to the beam. The light source is placed such that, the beam coming from it falls on the mirror through the slit, and the beam reflected by the mirror falls on the beam position indicator.
EFFECT: more accurate measurement of lateral components of the thrust vector of electrojet engines.
