FIELD: agriculture.
SUBSTANCE: method of determining frost-resistance of winter grain crops includes exposing plant leaves to frost. Leaves of plants under investigation are glued on adhesive tape - Scotch tape, top of the leaves 3-4 mm wide is cut off as control, the remaining leave fragments are placed between two metal plates into freezer. Exposure to frost is first carried out starting with temperature -13°C with gradual lowering of the latter on 1°C per hour during 6 hours. Further, in definite periods of time part of adhesive tape 2-3 mm wide is cut off with leaf fragments and placed into reservoir with 0.1-0.5% rezorcin solution, which colours killed by frost fragments of leaves into dark-blue colour, the remaining part of the tape with leaves is placed back into freezer for further exposure to frost. As evaluating frost-resistance index, time of exposure to frost, during which irreversible injury of leaves fragments by frost takes place.
EFFECT: claimed invention ensures simplification of method of determining plant frost-resistance, reduction of its duration and increase of productivity.
