SUBSTANCE: invention relates to selection of plants and can be used in laboratory condition for express evaluation of freeze resistance of winter barley. To evaluate the material under study, the mellow grain is taken, crushed, and oilseed meal is obtained, which is extracted with buffer A containing 0.5 M Tris-HCl, pH 8.5, 0.05 M MgCl2; 0.25 M sucrose, the extract is centrifuged, the obtained supernatant liquid is poured into a measuring container, and according to its volume the grain hygroscopic property is determined, and the freeze resistance is judged on it: the higher the hygroscopic property, the higher the freeze resistance.

EFFECT: invention enables to increase the speed of evaluation of freeze resistance of winter barley.
