FIELD: technological processes, casting.

SUBSTANCE: invention is related to metallurgy and may be used for production of items by moulding method in solid-liquid state, for instance, by die forming. Method includes pouring of melt into heat-insulated hated reservoir, stabilisation of temperature in it up to 110…120°C above liquidus lline, batched pouring of melt onto inclined cooled tray, pouring of melt into thin-walled glass and cooling of melt under conditions of glass ends heat insulation. Growing acceleration is imparted to flow of melt on tray, as well as oscillations with alternating amplitude and frequency. In lower part of heated heat insulated reservoir, at least one hole is made for drain of melt, which is closed with a rotary gate in the form of sector. In gate there are grooves for melt drain. Tray is installed under gate and is kinematically connected to it. Tray is equipped with mechanism that imparts reciprocal oscillations of alternating frequency and amplitudes along pouring direction to tray. As melt flow moves along tray, crystal nuclei capturing is activated from hardened crust of metal, which results in production of fine-grained structure of billet.

EFFECT: improved quality of billets.
