FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method of producing higher alkylamidoamines, particularly alkyl(C8-C22)amidopropyldimethylamines with formula RCONH(CH2)3N(CH3)2, through thermocatalytic reaction of fatty acid esters, particularly triglycerides of coconut oil, with dimethylaminopropylamine in the presence a catalyst in form of sodium glycerate or sodium alcoholate of amino alcohol with formula NH2CH2CH2ONa, containing 10 wt % sodium. The catalyst is usually taken in amount of 2.2 wt % fatty acid esters.
EFFECT: method allows for obtaining alkyl(C8-C22)amidopropyldimethylamines with maximum transparency, which are almost colourless, with low amount of impurities.
