FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for monitoring leakage of hydrogen from cooling systems of powerful electric generators, fuel systems of internal-combustion engines working on hydrogen fuel, for locating sections of possible hydrogen-induced cracking of gas pipelines or locating hydrogen release spots. In an explosive hydrogen concentration sensor, which has a case, inside of which there is a sensor device, a conducting element, through which the sensor device can be electrically interfaced with a data processing device, the case has thin walls made from quartz glass, the sensing element of the sensor device is in form of a flexible shell, in which a hydrogen-sensitive substance with exothermal response is put, and the conducting element has a thermocouple or heat-sensitive resistive element, which is placed inside the sensing element. Palladium-doped manganese dioxide is used as the hydrogen-sensitive substance with exothermal response.
EFFECT: simple design and highly reliable operation.
