FIELD: mining.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mining industry and is used to prevent places of coal spontaneous combustion from happening in the mined-out space of coal mines. The methods involves excavating mine workings that delineate the extraction pillar, gadding in the coal mass, biting of an unloading fissure in the side of the delineating mine working. Biting of the unloading fissure under the bed top is done while excavating the mine workings that delineate the extraction pillar. In the areas of geological faults of the coal bed before biting the unloading fissure the marginal part of the coal mass is cut through blastholes with a hardening composition.

EFFECT: improved efficiency of the coal miners work owing to reduction in the labour input and expenses for practical implementation of fire prevention measures and safety owing to creation of conditions ruling out the possibility for the air to get to the hot coal that is being broken down in the marginal part of the bed under the influence of bearing and rock pressure forces.
